Its been a big month for us!

Summer is winding down, and for once, I am actually relieved!  This makes me somewhat sad....because I feel like I haven't even had a chance to enjoy my fave part of the year :(  Ryan and I both had school and worked full time for spring and summer terms, so needless to stay our spare time (or lack of) wasn't spent on the beach like I would have hoped.  One day soon hopefully.... (hint hint husband) Even though this summer may have lacked awesome vacations or lounging by the pool, it has definitely paid off!  As of August 13, 2010 I am officially a college grad from BYU with a degree in business finance! By the way, no one told me my hat was crooked the whole entire ceremony. Thanks a lot everyone....

In other news this month, we bought a car!!!  The Taurus was nearing its death (the transmission was breaking and would no longer go in to first gear, which apparently is a necessary function...) and because of its inability to pass the safety inspection, we couldn't even register it in Utah when it was due at the beginning of the month.  Rather than putting wayyy more money to fix that beast than what it's worth (which is probably about 50 cents) we decided to look at trading it in.  We ended up doing this cash for clunkers thing a dealership was doing, which was like the government program that was going on a while ago. We ended up getting a great deal on a black Jetta, annnndddd they gave us $4,500 trade in for my P.O.S. car!  It was kinda funny- we were the first customer to do the cash for clunkers things with them (they hadn't even officially started doing it yet) and it turns out the finance guy at the dealership was super ticked off after we left, because they were losing a lot of money on the deal, and wouldn't get anything out of my broken down Taurus, so according to my dad, this is how you know you got a great deal.  Hah.  Also, one more crucial detail:  it's a stick shift.  Which has definitely been quite the learning experience for me.  I've pretty much gotten it down now after a few scary encounters involving stalling and traffic, and now I only have minor freakouts when I get to a red light on a hill. Here's a picture of my new automobile.  I am open to name suggestions :)

My last piece of exciting news is..... I GOT A JOB!  I am beyond excited. After several interviews, and weeks of waiting Provident Funding finally offered me a job.  So on Monday i'm going to start work at my first real job as an underwriter for them! The best part of this is that I never have to do another mortgage modification again!.  And, my husband never has to listen to me whine about ModifyUtah ever again, so we're both happy :)  I start out with an eight week training program, which involves two weeks of traveling to another Provident location (fingers crossed for somewhere awesome!) so wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!

So overall I'd say it's been a good month :)  The only bummer is that after his week break between terms, it's back to school for Ryan.  I don't know what I'm going to do with all my new-found spare time while he's at school or studying.  My goal is to work on my wifely skills, such as cooking healthy dinners and getting things done at home everyday.  Hopefully for my husband's sake my cooking skills improve quickly!  I might even have more time to actually write on the blog, but I don't want to set my goals TOO high haha.  More updates soon (ish)!

So as promised, here's some pictures of our new furniture, and also our yard which my hubby has so diligently been working on (before it gets super hot and it all goes brown...)

Blogging is not exactly one of my talents.....

So...it is officially JUNE!  And my husband pointed out the other day that I have not updated the blog since like February, upon which I pointed out "well why don't you update it?"  Upon which he pointed out that he would not.  So here I am!  And before everyone thinks its just because I am lazy that I have not updated the blog.... DISCLAIMER- I am actually really REALLY busy.  And only like 35% lazy....

So here's whats new in the Memmott house!  We are both enjoying the excitement of summer school (and by excitement I actually mean awful misery).  Its my second to last semester before I graduate- all I have left is summer term and then graduate in August whoo whoo! However this means that I have pretty much already mentally checked out, and the fact that it's nice and summery outside does not help my cause.  I'm taking two classes this term, and two summer term, along with an independent study course that I have yet to start at some point in there too, so assuming I pass all my classes and finish my dang independent study, I'm a free girl come August 12!

Lets see.... in other news.... I started a new job!  I started back at the beginning of March, and lets just say severing ties with my old employer has been difficult (and not actually completed yet...) For the first couple of weeks, I tried to do both, to no avail because my new job is pretty much 40 hours a week, but I spent so long at American liberty that I just wasn't ready to give it up.  I felt like I was balancing my wife and my mistress; neither employer knew about the other and I would sneak off from one to go to the other.  Sorry about the inappropriate analogy; for the record I do not condone or participate in this behavior, nor do I have an actual wife or mistress haha. So now I am an employer of ModifyUtah, the modification specialists.  I do mortgage modifications for people with unfortunate circumstances who can't afford their mortgage payments.  Sounds like fun, right?  Well, its not.  Just kidding.  Some days I really really like it.  Other days when I have to deal with frustrated people and incapable lenders for hours on end I start to miss my facebook-filled days at American Liberty....

Also- I"M PREGGO!!!!

Um...not really on that last part, but....we did buy couches!  Almost as exciting.  We FINALLY have furniture in the upstairs of our house! YAY!  It doesn't echo anymore!  We got a killer deal from Knights furniture and did their whole you-can-afford-a-room-of-furniture-even-if-your-newly-married-and-poor deal,  and got a couch, a loveseat, an area rug, a coffee table and two end tables for way cheap!  The downside- it did take FOREVER to get it all, and once we finally got everything and set it up, we realized that the couch got smushed in the delivery process, so we got to wrap it all back up, drag it out to the truck, and wait another two weeks for a new one.  But I am really happy with how it all turned out!  Pictures one day soon! (But due to my blogging history, don't hold your breath...)

My husband says hilarious things in bed...

Wanna find out all the crazy things you say in your sleep?  There's an app for that!  Since we've been married, one of the funniest things has been all the hilarious things that Ryan blurts out in the night.  In order to reveal to him how entertaining he is, I got this app that is a voice activated recorder, so you leave it on all night and it only records when someone is talking.  It has not only illustrated to him his funny sleep talking, but it has also shown us that not only does he talk in his sleep, but so do I, AND we have CONVERSATIONS in our sleep in the middle of the night!  Apparently, we're meant to be.  Here are just a few examples.

Ryan: Little....little....little....little bo peep?  Nuh uh, now its not gonna happen

Ryan: Whatcha reading about?
Me: What?
Ryan: What are you reading?
Me: I'm not really reading anything....
Ryan: Oh okay

Ryan: Hey buddy....feelin' okay??

Ryan: You know what....take that to the tollway though... you're not shooting that gun! I'm telling alright, you're not! Don't even think about it!

Me:  Look at that its red!!
Ryan: What is?
Me: The room!
Ryan: Oh laying on your.. on your side?
Me: Yeah, it like, it kinda like warms it up so the red like dilludes itself
Ryan: Oh thats interesting.

Ryan: The, the monkey...wearing stupid clothing

Me: Wanna play?  This ones dead, ya know that? No? Yeah they are

Ryan: (Said with a western accent) Its kinda cool if drive fast

Ryan: Dad? Is that good?  Your slacks?
Me: mmmhmmm
Ryan:You look up? Stradict?
Me: mmmhmmm

Ryan: Put together a tiny bit of a bill!

Ryan: You knew it was gonna happen you dumb idiot girl! You knew it was gonna happen and you do it anyway, you freakin morons!
Me: Me?
Ryan: Yeah, all of you, you knew it would flip it at the end.  Why don't you ever think ahead huh?
Me: Oh noooo, sorry! Sorry you could beat us!

Ryan: Sup the street Rydawg? Pretty good.  Its alright, not too great yet.  Just okay. Yeahhh, not great but not terrible over here.  All right then.  Keep it up, keep it good.  See ya dude.

Ryan: Hahahahahaha.....football TV is the best day

Ryan: Hurry and step in, step in, step in, STEP, come on, NOW!  Don't talk to me.

Ryan: Dude I had an incoup site literally like days after you told me to get one.  Like thats not even one single bit exaggerated.  Literally.  Ask, ask little sister vibration she's like one and a half down street, down some street.  So suck on that biatches who don't believe me.

Me: Not a q-tip, toilet paper!

There is a reason healthy sounds like it should start with hell...

There are two things that I hate immensely: going without diet coke, and vegetables.  (And school. But thats another story)  Thanks to healthy challenge, or as I like to call it, hell-thy challenge, I am going to have to stop loathing both of those things.  Why is this necessary?  Well here's a little illustration of what had in our basement.

Apparently, we drink A LOT of soda.

So, Healthy Challenge is 12 weeks long (Ryan and I are catering this one to end at the finish line of our half marathon at the end of March) but basically there are several things that you must do each day, and you get a point for each requirement.  The seven possible points are made up of:

1) Eating 5 fruit or vegetable servings a day.
2) Getting atleast 7 hours of sleep a night.
3) Drinking 64 oz of water a day
4) No carbonation
5) Getting atleast 30 minutes of exercise a day
6) No unhealthy food (ie chips, french fries etc)
7) No sweets (this one KILLS me)

You get 3 "flex points" a week, where you can have a sweet, drink a soda etc.  These are useful if you don't have time to exercise or don't feel like making yourself swallow disgusting vegetables for a day.

My parents started this challenge last year, and everyone put in $20 bucks to start.  There were about 20 people competing, so the total money contributed ended up being about $400.  Everyone emailed my mom their points, and the person with the most points at the end of the challenge got the prize of the $400.  My roommates and I all participated last time, which definitely upped the competion (I remember one time accidentally forgetting that the chocolate covered strawberries at Zupas were considered sweets, and taking a bite, while my roomate Courtney watched and after I finished, she said triumphantly, "HAH!! Sweet point!!"  Thanks Courtney....) My roomates and I ended up winning last time and splitting the prize money three ways.

This time, our motivation is if Ryan and I both keep a perfect score, we will either go on a fun weekend trip somewhere, or he can buy a gun and I can go on a shopping spree :) However, if anyone is interested in doing the healthy challenge with us, let me know and we can get one start one like my parents did!

We've been doing this for about a week now, and I can already tell a difference in how I feel.  Although atleast 30% of the time I am miserable because I want peanut butter m & m's or a diet coke soooo bad, the other 70% of the time, I defintiely have more energy and feel WAY better when I run.  Hopefully it all keeps going good and we don't die in the half marathon!

These are the things that have saved me so far on this challenge and have helped taked the hell out of healthy:
-Edamame-  A suprisingly undisgusting vegetable!  They sell 12 individually microwavable packages of this stuff for like $7 at Costco
-"Caffeine water"- aka flavored packets of deliciousness that may or not have laces of caffeine in them.... I'm calling these my diet coke nicorette.
-Stacy's cinnamon Pita Chips-  A healthy, semi sweet snack that helps dull my sweet cravings

Your MOM went to college.....

So life as we knew it was turned upside with the reinstation of our education.  Thats right, its back to school for Ryan and I.  We lived a spoiled life last semester which involved little more than work and coming home and doing whatever the heck we felt like.  But nowwwww, thanks to the dreaded day of winter semester finally showing its ugly face, I'm starting to remember what busy feels like.  Let me demonstrate for you a typical day:

6:20 AM (as in the MORNING, I fogot this time existed...)- Wake up, get ready (ish), deal with the hyper dog
6:50 AM-  Its out the door and into Ryan's freezing truck where we spend the next 40 minutes filled with sleepy conversation and Radio from Hell
7:30 AM- Stop at Ryans work.  He's off to UVU and I pick up the other car (which, after I am finally warm, I have to go sit in another freezing car), get stuck behind super slow drviers on Geneva road...grrr
7:50 AM- Arrival at BYU, leave the car thats finally warm, and freeze on the walk to class
8-11 AM- Strive to stay awake and not sound dumb in all my business classes, consisting of Accounting, Investments, Finance, and Money & Banking
11 AM- off to my "job" at American Liberty
1:30 PM- facebooking, gmailing, and begging Ryan to go to lunch with me because I am dying of boredom
5 PM- Finding activities to fill the next 1.75 hours while Ryan is finishing class.  Target is an excellent choice. Homework if its absolutely necessary.
7 PM- Rendezvous at Ryan's work to start the commute back to good ol' Eagle Mountain.
7:40 PM WE'RE HOME!!!! FINALLY!!!!
8 PM  Running or p90x if we're feeling ambitious.  I may or may not die in the half marathon in March....
8:45PM Dinner....finally.  Quesadillas and paninis have become close friends of the Memmott household as of late...or always....
9 PM- homework or Seinfeld and Jazz games if we're feeling a little procrastination
10:30 PM- Its off to bed if we aren't already snoring on the couch

HURRY UP GRADUATION!!!!!
