Its been a big month for us!

Summer is winding down, and for once, I am actually relieved!  This makes me somewhat sad....because I feel like I haven't even had a chance to enjoy my fave part of the year :(  Ryan and I both had school and worked full time for spring and summer terms, so needless to stay our spare time (or lack of) wasn't spent on the beach like I would have hoped.  One day soon hopefully.... (hint hint husband) Even though this summer may have lacked awesome vacations or lounging by the pool, it has definitely paid off!  As of August 13, 2010 I am officially a college grad from BYU with a degree in business finance! By the way, no one told me my hat was crooked the whole entire ceremony. Thanks a lot everyone....

In other news this month, we bought a car!!!  The Taurus was nearing its death (the transmission was breaking and would no longer go in to first gear, which apparently is a necessary function...) and because of its inability to pass the safety inspection, we couldn't even register it in Utah when it was due at the beginning of the month.  Rather than putting wayyy more money to fix that beast than what it's worth (which is probably about 50 cents) we decided to look at trading it in.  We ended up doing this cash for clunkers thing a dealership was doing, which was like the government program that was going on a while ago. We ended up getting a great deal on a black Jetta, annnndddd they gave us $4,500 trade in for my P.O.S. car!  It was kinda funny- we were the first customer to do the cash for clunkers things with them (they hadn't even officially started doing it yet) and it turns out the finance guy at the dealership was super ticked off after we left, because they were losing a lot of money on the deal, and wouldn't get anything out of my broken down Taurus, so according to my dad, this is how you know you got a great deal.  Hah.  Also, one more crucial detail:  it's a stick shift.  Which has definitely been quite the learning experience for me.  I've pretty much gotten it down now after a few scary encounters involving stalling and traffic, and now I only have minor freakouts when I get to a red light on a hill. Here's a picture of my new automobile.  I am open to name suggestions :)

My last piece of exciting news is..... I GOT A JOB!  I am beyond excited. After several interviews, and weeks of waiting Provident Funding finally offered me a job.  So on Monday i'm going to start work at my first real job as an underwriter for them! The best part of this is that I never have to do another mortgage modification again!.  And, my husband never has to listen to me whine about ModifyUtah ever again, so we're both happy :)  I start out with an eight week training program, which involves two weeks of traveling to another Provident location (fingers crossed for somewhere awesome!) so wish me luck, I'm gonna need it!

So overall I'd say it's been a good month :)  The only bummer is that after his week break between terms, it's back to school for Ryan.  I don't know what I'm going to do with all my new-found spare time while he's at school or studying.  My goal is to work on my wifely skills, such as cooking healthy dinners and getting things done at home everyday.  Hopefully for my husband's sake my cooking skills improve quickly!  I might even have more time to actually write on the blog, but I don't want to set my goals TOO high haha.  More updates soon (ish)!
